Foreword:
I remember growing up in India and being taught by my parents to follow the Kosher dietary laws. At that time I did it because it was a tradition and my parents were staunch believers in keeping the Jewish traditions. For that I had to be rudely woken up at 6am on a weekend (Sunday) and take my brother Danny on my motorcycle for a 40 minute ride to the butchers shop in Kurla, Mumbai.
Being a pet lover, I will not enter the butchers store and hence the need for my older brother to endure the same 6AM wake-up torture to do the dirty work to go in and pickup the meat order. I was merely the transport mechanism and a lover of eating protein based meals :). So getting KOSHER MEAT AND CHICKEN was a big deal and needed to be arranged with the Shoketh in advance or available only at certain times of the week. Even today I find myself driving 5-10 hours to get my Kosher meats from Washington DC or New York.

Fast forward to today, OCTOBER 2013, I hear there is a NEW KOSHER RESTAURANT in THANE, near Mumbai, which caters to the large thriving Jewish community as well as the observant Israeli and Jewish travelers who visit that location. I am proud that the active owners are the Varsulkar family brothers who are Bene Israel. Isaac Varsulkar previously worked in a FalaFel cafe and has a strong restaurant business background.
GOOD LUCK TO THEM IN THIS ENDEAVOR AND CANT WAIT TO EAT AT THIS RESTAURANT MYSELF !!!

The restaurant is started with in intention of simplifying access to Jewish Kosher choices in India.Why can only the Jews in Israel eat whatever they wish because they have access to kosher eating places. Seeing Tandoori chicken and Kebabs on fire in shops always gave me a temptation. I was missing Kosher Shawarma in India.
That's how we came up with a combination theme of offering Indian, Chinese and Lebanese cuisine under the brand Bityavon (translated from Hebrew as Bon Appetite). Why
wait
for occasions to order in bulk to have Kosher Meat or Chicken Biryani. Eat whatever you wish and whenever you want at Bityavon.
We also offer complete Shabbat meals with special items like Soups, Chicken Tikka, Chicken Tandoori, Pita Breads, Hummus, Falafel, Shawarma, Chaat, Tandoori and much more. We undertake outdoor and indoor catering orders for Weddings, Engagements, Birthdays and other occasions with variety LIVE counters with the above delicacies. We offer customized Snacks boxes for all occasions.
Bityavon is started by three entrepreneurs Isaac Varsulkar, Jacob Varsulkar and Sharon Galsurkar.

Sunday to Thursday: 11:00 am to 11:00 pm
Friday 11:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Saturday: 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm.
